May has possibly been my most varied month when it comes to music so far. April saw an incredible

collection of new releases which I carried with me into this month, including Jane Remover, sry4.wav and Lorde, as well as Yung Lean's highly anticipated album Jonatan which released May 2nd.

Here are the five tracks that stuck with me the most this month.

1. “Insanity” – sry4.wav

The Maltese cloud-rap collective continues to deliver exactly what Malta's underground is looking for. First released as a single, Insanity features in the collective's debut album Exisle.

Producer Fiftyseven never fails to bring unique, fresh beats to the table. Combined with Astris' witty lyrics, this is undoubtedly one of my favourite out of all the singles so far, and it constantly sticks in my head.

2. “angels in camo” – Jane Remover

Jane Remover's "Revengeseekerz" is inarguably one of 2025's top albums. It's a perfect blend of unhinged yet masterfully crafted, and I can't stop listening to it.

It was difficult to pick a favourite for this album. angels in camo is both emotionally vulnerable and forceful, and Jane Remover successfully continues to redefine the post-genre landscape.

3. “What Was That” – Lorde

A surprise drop, marking a stylistic shift. What Was That is raw, stripped back, and makes me nostalgic for a time that hasn't even ended yet. There's a demo-like intimacy to it. Messy, but in a good way.

Lorde steps away from longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff to work with Jim-E Stack, signalling a subtle but important shift in Lorde’s sound and creative direction.

4. “Horses” – Yung Lean

One of the more accessible entries on Jonatan, Horses is cinematic, emotionally resonant, and devastating in the most beautiful way possible.

Lean’s voice is buried beneath hazy layers of synth and static, paired with heavenly orchestral elements. Seeing this live before the release is something I'll never forget.

This was personally my most anticipated album of the year, and though many criticise it, I can't help but appreciate the grittiness and raw elements.

5. “A Dream Goes On Forever” – Vegyn & John Glacier

While this isn't a new song, I've recently discovered Vegyn, and I had to mention this track as it's been the soundtrack to my life for the past few weeks. It's hauntingly beautiful and never seems to get old, lingering long after it ends. John Glacier's voice, combined with Vegyn's dreamlike, hazy production, is poetic and perfect for slow summer days.

Honorable Mention: I highly recommend listening to the DJ set by The Avalanches and Vegyn on Soundcloud linked below.
